Did You See Rooney`s Miracle Goal ? [See Pictures]

Wayne Rooney
scored a goal of staggering brilliance against West Ham on Saturday – a
strike that would normally be a shoo-in for goal-of-the-season at the
end of May.

Yet it wasn’t even a clear-cut winner of goal of the weekend.

The Manchester United
star lit up the match at Upton Park in the 7th minute, timing his run
perfectly beneath a high bouncing ball just beyond the half-way line…

..then watching it drop down over his head…

…and onto his boot…

..before smashing it 50 yards through the air…

…over the head of Hammers’ Spanish keeper Adrian. The fact that David Beckham was in the crowd watching only made it that bit sweeter.

Staggering stuff – and it’s no wonder that United’s celebrations were rapturous…

…while West Ham were wondering what on earth they’d just been hit by.

As glorious as Rooney’s strike was, it wasn’t the only cracker of the day. Manchester City’s Yaya Toure also scored a belter to complete his hat-trick against Fulham.
He picked the ball up in a seemingly-innocuous position outside the
box, found a little space by drifting right, then unleashed a
magisterial thunderbolt that carved its way in at the right post.

The strike sparked joyous celebrations among the City players as it
officially marked the moment that a match which started out hard-fought
turned into one of the routs of the season.

Over at Carrow Road, however, Norwich’s Alex Tettey was also staking a claim to goal-of-the-day honours.
The Norwegian midfielder was hanging back deep at a set piece in the
match against Sunderland – and when the ball came his way, he swung his
foot as if this was the strike he’d been waiting for his whole life,…

..which resulted in him burying it into the top right from fully 35 yards.

No wonder his team-mates went crazy – and the celebration they marked the goal with was the undisputed best of the day.

Norwich might only have scored 26 goals this season, but Canaries
fans can at least console themselves that they have witnessed one of the
finest strikes of this – or any other – year.

But was it better than Rooney’s effort? Have your say in the comments box below.
