Eagles can’t win 2014 World Cup

Former Nigeria international Emeka Ezeugo has said Stephen Keshi’s men should not nurse the ambition of winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The former defender who won 11 caps for the country and featured at the 1994 World Cup staged in the United States is of the opinion that the senior team lacks world-class players, especially in the rear to challenge for the biggest prize in football.
“We lack world-class players in the defence,” Ezeugo told TheCable.ng.
“The players in that department are not good enough. Well, they are good, but ordinary. They are good in their own class, but world-class? No, never and you can’t win the World Cup with an unreliable and poor defence.’’
Even at this the former Aalborg BK star popularly called ‘The Destroyer’ believes with luck the team can still defy all odds to make an appreciable impact in the quadrennial football fiesta.
“I wish the team all the best in Brazil.
“I’m just saying things the way they are. With a bit of fortune, they could get to the World Cup final.’
