Manchester United almost signed Ronaldinho and Vieira

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson came close to signing both
Ronaldinho and

Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, according to the Daily Star.

The United boss reportedly wanted both men at different points over the
last two decades, but for one reason or another the negotiations fell through.
According to various sources,
Fergie tried everything he could to bring Ronaldinho to Old Trafford, having
failed to sign Vieira in the 90s.
It is believes that in 2003, following the sale of David Beckham to Real Madrid, Ferguson had a
€25million offer accepted by Paris Saint-Germain for then-emerging star
Ronaldinho, but it fell through at the eleventh hour, only for the Brazilian
playmaker to join Barcelona in a €27million deal.
To make matters worse it has emerged that Ferguson was chasing Patrick
Vieira whilst the Frenchman was in the early stages of his career, and even
ordered then-chief executive Peter Kenyon to call Arsenal with a view to
enquire about his availability.
However negotiations never got going and the United boss was left to
ultimately rue what could have been one of the best signings of his tenure.
