Omeruo was injured in a tackle with Victor Moses during the team’s
training in Jacksonville, and missed the friendly against Greece.
Musa, for his part, took a knee to the thigh against the Greeks and spent nearly a week on the sidelines.
But head coach Stephen Keshi said there was no cause for concern.
did a scan on Omeruo and discovered it was just a minor injury, but I
decided not to risk him against the USA because we have important games
coming up in the World Cup,” Keshi said.
Since arriving in Brazil, both players have trained as usual with the rest of the squad.
Keshi’s one injury concern was Gabriel Reuben, but the midfielder has made a full recovery and also took part in the sessions.
Musa is expected to replace Osaze Odemwingie in the starting lineup, with Omeruo in for captain Joseph Yobo.
