Nigeria flags off Dry Season Farming

The
Federal Government of Nigeria has flagged off the dry season irrigation
programme aimed at ensuring all season farming across the nation.
Minister
of Water Resources, Serah Reng Ochekkpe, while flagging-off the programme at
the Sepeteri Irrigation Project of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development
Authority at the weekend, said the main objective of the exercise was “to
practically demonstrate the efforts and activities of the ministry and its agencies in promoting all-season
farming in the country.”
She
added: “It is aimed at showcasing the contributions of the ministry
towards realizing the Federal Government’s transformation agenda of ensuring food security in the nation”.
The
minister, who was represented by a deputy director in the ministry, Abba Dauda
Isawa, said efforts will be made to ensure that irrigation farming is made more
efficient, effective and available to many communities.
